Recompression Therapy for Decompression Illness

The use of pressure as a treatment for gas-bubble disease dates back more than 100 years. Surprisingly, however, it is only since the 1960's that oxygen has been emplyed as a therapeutic gas during recompression.

This presentation offers a summary of the background, theory, and practical aspects of using recompression in the treatment of - primarily - recreational divers. Commercial divers, saturation divers and deep heliox or trimix diving requires additional considerations.
